This two-wave study (April and September 2025) explores how Romanians perceive and interact with wild animals, particularly bears and wolves, highlighting both real-life encounters and the psychological impact of media and RO-Alert messages.
Across both waves, fear tends to be shaped more by sensational reporting than by direct experience, yet most respondents consistently support coexistence. Education, better waste management, habitat protection, and responsible communication from authorities are seen as key. Rather than seeking conflict or extermination, Romanians continue to favor preventative measures and informed policies for peaceful human-wildlife interaction.
