Mystery shopping is a type of qualitative research used by market researchers, consulting companies or internally by end clients themselves to test the quality of service provided by their own staff or to collect specific information about products and services. The person playing the role of a mystery shopper would normally act as any other regular customer: purchase the product, ask questions about it, register complaints or behave in a certain way – in the end, he/she would provide a report or written feedback on their experience.
DataDiggers conducts mystery shopping in all the countries where we own proprietary online panels (Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Greece, Hungary, Poland, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia and Turkey), as well as around the world via carefully chosen local partners.
We do mystery shopping through a large network of local suppliers that are able to hire or provide experienced mystery shoppers across all countries of field, people who are native speakers of the local languages and also live in the respective countries, so they are properly accustomed with the local culture. We always do a free proofing of the study materials to make sure the translation done by client doesn’t have any unwanted influence on the quality of data.
We employ several methods to ensure best quality for the data collected in mystery shopping projects:
- Apart from the project manager that is in permanent contact with client, two senior level local supervisors work on each project, ensuring backup throughout the project and availability of a knowledgeable contact at all times
- Project materials are proofed for translation by native speakers of each language, to make sure that client’s original goals are not missed due to poor translation
- Deliverables are thoroughly checked by two different experienced analysts to ensure accuracy before they are sent over to client
